The two-time Olympic medalist took two hours and 28 minutes to take down her opponent, world-ranked 20. With the win, world ranked 15 extended her tally against Busanan 18-1. Sindhu would aim to win her first tournament since the Singapore Open in 2022, as she plays against China’s world-ranked 7 Wang Zhi Yi.

20-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal said that he is not bothered by the French Open 2024 opener against Alexander Zverev. Nadal said, "At some point somebody told me the draw. I mean, the reaction is something that I expected in some way. When you’re not seeded, anything can happen. That’s part of the business." Zverev, on the other hand, said, "Ideally I would have liked to play him in at a later stage of the tournament um but it is how it is now. He is unseeded this year, I am seeded. It's a tough draw but it's a tough draw for both of us and we'll see how it goes.”

He said, "For my decisions, we were not in the right positions to attack them. My mistake. My game plan was not good. Tactically, it was not good. I was not good, today. You plan a game for different positions, but it didn't work. Even with that, we arrived two or three times in the final third and byline and made nothing from crosses.”
