India suffers defeat against Pakistan in men's Asian Hockey 5s World Cup Qualifier

After thrashing Bangladesh 15-1 and Oman 12-2, the Indian men’s hockey team suffered a narrow defeat against Pakistan in the men's  Asian Hockey 5s World Cup Qualifier on Wednesday, August 30. Pakistan took down India 4-5, and on the Indian side, it was the trio of Maninder Singh, Gurjot Singh and Mohammed Raheel that scored to keep the Indian team in the competition. However, on Pakistan’s side, Ahtisham Aslam, Zikriya Hayat, Abdul Rehman and Abdul Rana led the charge of the winning team. 

US Open 2023: Tsitsipas, Ruud crash out of tournament, Djokovic, Swiatek move to next round

Another day at the ongoing US Open 2023 turned out to be a day of major disappointments and disbelief as Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas and last year's runner Casper Ruud were knocked out of the tournament. While Tsitsipas was defeated by Switzerland's Dominic Stricker 7-5, 6-7, 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, the fifth-seeded Casper Ruud of Norway went down fighting against China's Zhizhen Zhang. 

However, the three-time US Open champion Novak Djokovic registered a win over Spain's Bernabe Zapata Miralles 6-4, 6-1, 6-1. In the women's round, Iga Swiatek got the better of Australia's Daria Saville 6-3, 6-4 to advance to round 3. 

PT Usha to contest for Commonwealth Games Federation elections

Indian Olympic Association Chief PT Usha will contest elections for the Commonwealth Games Federation elections. Usha will contest for the designation of Vice President in the esteemed organisation, and the elections are set to be contested in the month of November, this year. On Wednesday, the federation announced the list of candidates who will contest for the posts of president, vice president, regional VPs and sports committee members.

India to bid for 2027 World Athletics Championships: Neeraj Chopra

Indian Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra said that India will bid for hosting the 2027 World Athletics Championships. According to PTI, he said, “They are bidding. I will request them, and hopefully, they will come in great capacity. Now, javelin (throw) is famous in India. I have always said in Indian interviews that we need to understand athletics and be knowledgeable about it because athletics is not only javelin throw. 

Garena Free Fire India set to launch on September 5

Singaporean global online games developer and publisher, Garena, announced the launch of Free Fire India.   The game is believed to have incorporated unique content and features to promote a safe and healthy gameplay experience. It will go live in the upcoming week and players will be able to download the game from September 5. 

Garena’s Co-founder Gang Ye, Yotta Infrastructure’s Co-founder and Chairman Darshan Hiranandani, along with the Republic of Singapore to the Republic of India’s High Commissioner HE Simon Wong, made the announcement. The official page of Free Fire India took to Instagram and made the news public.
