The second semi-final of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 between Australia and South Africa was halted in the 14th over, due to rain in Kolkata after the Proteas started with the bat. With more possible rainfall forecasted, the question arises what will be done if the game is washed out on November 16?

In such a situation, the International Cricket Council (ICC)  have kept reserve days for the three knockout games in the World Cup 2023.  Similarly, reserve days weren't included in the league round but with these knockout games holding more significance, extra days of play have been allotted.

If the weather conditions push the game to be called off on the game day - November 16 the fixture will be moved to the reserve day on November 17, Friday. However, the official will prioritise a possible result on the scheduled match day. A similar situation did occur in the previous ODI World Cup where the semi-final between India and New Zealand was carried forward to a reserve day.
