After Sunrisers Hyderabad posted their third total in excess of 260 in the IPL 2024, Sachin Tendulkar was left awe-struck, asking what has been happening with them in the new season of the tournament. The 50-year-old also praised the overall performance of SRH against DC, getting the better of them by 67 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
Notably, after Rishabh Pant, the captain of Delhi Capitals, put Sunrisers Hyderabad into batting first, the carnage ensued at the ground from the first over itself. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were in ominous touch with the bat, scoring 125 runs in just the powerplay stage alone, at the expense of the DC bowlers.
After the opening stand between Travis Head (89 off 32) and Abhishek Sharma (46 off 12) was broken in the seventh over, Delhi Capitals picked up three more quick wickets to extend the flow of runs somewhat. But then, Nitish Reddy (37 off 27) and Shahbaz Ahmed (59 off 29), kept the momentum of the SRH’s innings going, helping them post 266/7, the fourth-highest total in the history of the IPL. Delhi Capitals made a fist of the big run chase in the first half of their innings, reaching 138/4, thanks to the batting blitz from Jake Fraser-McGurk (65 off 18) and Abhishek Porel (42 off 22). But, the second half of their innings was far from underwhelming, getting bundled out in the last over for just 199 after T Natarajan picked up four wickets in his spell.

He was astonished at the batting performance from SRH, giving a special mention to the likes of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Shahbaz Ahmed, before speaking about how they bowled better than DC in the second innings.

The victory for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024, propelled them to second spot in the standings with 10 points, just two behind Rajasthan Royals.
