Cricket is undoubtedly one of the most followed sports in Asia and the fans are extremely passionate. However, things get slightly out of the hands when teams fail to live up to the huge expectations of their fans as their passion starts converting into anger. From India's embarrassing ouster from 2007 ODI World Cup to Pakistan's match-fixing saga, the Asian cricket fans have a history of getting their disappointment known to players.

In another shocking turn of events, Sri Lankan cricket fans have absolutely lost patience with their national side after the 3-0 loss in T20Is against England handed them their fifth consecutive series defeat in the shortest format.

#unfollowcricketers campaign started by SL fans

The #unfollowcricketers started to trend on Facebook on Sunday when thousands of Sri Lankan cricket fans started to boycott the Facebook pages of national side's vice-captain Kusal Mendis and opener Dhanushka Gunathilaka. Reportedly, the aim of the campaign is to unfollow all the national cricketers who have continuously failed to deliver for Sri Lanka at the international level.

The campaign has now spread across all other social media platforms as conversations around the same also started to catch everyone's attention on Instagram and Twitter on Sunday. While Kusal Mendis has reportedly already lost 2k followers on Instagram, the fans are now targeting the social media handles of all other players to express their rage and disappointment with their performances.
