The much anticipated and awaited ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 schedule has been announced and the fans are excited to know when India will play their first match of this tournament. ICC ODI WC 2023 will begin with the inaugural game played between the last World Cup finalists England and New Zealand in Ahmedabad on October 5. But India will be playing their first match of this WC edition in Chennai on 8 October against Australia.
India will be playing across nine different venues in this ODI WC 2023 in Chennai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Dharamsala, Lucknow, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.
India could play two games in Mumbai (or) Kolkata, if they reach semi-finals.
India could also play two games in two different venues like Mumbai (or) Kolkata, and Ahmedabad if they manage to reach final of the showpiece event.

Note on ODI WC 2023 semi-finals scenario:
- If India play Pakistan, then it will be held in Kolkata.
- If India plays any other team, excluding Pakistan, the semifinal will be held in Mumbai.
