The Miami Grand Prix will make its debut on the Formula One calendar this year. This will be the fifth race on this year's calendar and also the second venue in the United States of America. The racing track at the Miami International Autodrom is a 5.412 km long circuit with 19 turns with a backdrop of picturesque Hard Rock Stadium. The highly-anticipated event will see 20 drivers contest over 57 laps of the newly-laid circuit, covering 308.326 km.
Interestingly, Miami will be the 11th venue to host an F1 race in the United States of America, making it a record for hosting the sport at more circuits than any other nation. Ferrari will head into the inaugural event as the leader of the constructors' standings, with Red Bull not far behind. The Italian outfit also leads the driver's tally due to stellar performance from its driver Charles Leclerc in the four races so far this season.
Though Ferrari driver had an unlikely outing at Imola GP, he will be hoping to better his performance and points at the new circuit. The practice session for the weekend will take place on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7. Each session (FP1, FP2, and FP3) will be an hour-long, giving teams ample time to try a variety of setups. Since this is a brand new circuit, teams have little or no data on how their cars will fare once on the asphalt.
Consequently, these practice sessions become crucial for all groups to learn, adapt, and improve their existing setups.
