As the birthplace of Lord Ram, Ayodhya prepares for the auspicious Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the newly-constructed Ram Temple (consecration) on January 22, Monday, several top names from across the nation have received the invitations. The list of the VVIPs includes top names from the cricket fraternity as well, receiving invites to attend the religious ceremony. From Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar to Indian batting sensation Virat Kohli, top household names from the sporting discipline have been invited, and they are expected to visit Ayodhya for the same.
Former India women’s cricketer Mithali Raj along with India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin became the latest names to have received the invites for the ceremony. Tamil Nadu’s BJP Secretary Dr. SG Suryah and VP Venkatram C handed the number 1 Test bowler his invitation. While speculations loom over former India captain MS Dhoni’s participation in the ceremony in Ayodhya, it has been reported that Kohli has taken special permission from the BCCI to visit the holy city.
The top names that have received the invitations are former India opener Gautam Gambhir, former India captain and current Head Coach of the team Rahul Dravid, and star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Along with these, current India captain Rohit Sharma, who led the side to the ODI World Cup 2023 Finals is also among the names.
Legendary India players including Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, and Saurav Ganguly are also expected to be there at the grand event. Former batter Virender Sehwag has also been invited to the ceremony. Current India women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur also received her invitation.
