The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday, 8th September announced the match officials for the league stage of the Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, set to take place in India. The marquee event which is set to take place entirely in India, will be played from 5th October till 19th November.

While India’s Nitin Menon and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Dharmasena will officiate the World Cup opener between England and New Zealand in Ahmadabad on October 5, Javagal Srinath will serve as the match referee. But the question arises, who will officiate in the much-awaited World Cup match between India and Pakistan on October 14 in Ahmadabad.

It is being speculated that Richard Illingworth and Marais Erasmus will be the on-field umpires with English international umpire Richard Kettleborough taking up the third umpire role. Additionally, Andy Pycroft will be the match referee for the highly-octane clash.

It is to be noted that Kettleborough, who last officiated in India’s WTC Final loss against Australia in June has officiated the Men in Blue is almost all knockout games since their triumph of the Champions Trophy 2013.

Notably, the 13th edition of the tournament will be officiated by 16 umpires, including all 12 members of the Emirates Elite Panel of the ICC Umpires and four members of the ICC Emerging Umpire Panel.

List of umpires for ICC ODI World Cup 2023:
