Andrew Brownlee has become the oldest player to appear in international cricket with his debut for Falkland Islands against Costa Rica in a T20 International (T20I) game played at Guacima on March 10, 2025. Brownlee, who is 62, shattered the record of Osman Goker, who made his maiden international appearance for Turkey at the age of 59 against Romania in a T20I contest played at Ilfov County in August 2019.
Brownlee has played three T20Is in his international career, which has just begun. His role is to fortify his national side with right-arm medium-pace bowling and right-handed batting in the lower order. Discussing his stats, he has racked up six runs in three innings with a couple of unbeaten knocks. With the ball, he has bowled only one over and is yet to pick up his maiden international wicket.
With his international debut, Brownlee has become the first and only player to achieve the feat of breaking into the gentlemen's sport at the age of 60s. Brownlee has also joined illustrious names such as England’s James Southerton, Pakistan’s Miran Bakhsh, and India’s Rustomji Jamshedji, who are on the chart of oldest players with international debuts.
