With the Vitality Blast T20 2025 nearing its penultimate stage, in the final North Group fixture of the T20 tournament, which was played between Nottinghamshire and Lancashire at the Trent Bridge, young face, Farhan Ahmed hogged the spotlight for his brilliance with the ball. For the unversed, Lancashire won the toss and elected to bat first.

On the back of Farhan Ahmed’s hat-trick and a five-wicket haul, the Notts restricted the Jennings-led side to 126 in 20 overs. The Lancashire’s innings started promisingly, but the momentum was quickly changed in favour of the Notts, courtesy Farhan Ahmed returning with figures of 5/25 in four overs.

Farhan Ahmed completed hat-trick in final three balls; completes a fifer in Notts win

In the T20 Blast match at Trent Bridge, the 17-year-old first removed skipper Jennings at the score of 20, followed by the wicket of Chris Green, who was one of the key batters for the Lancashire side. He then went up to complete a hat-trick as he dismissed Luke Wood (5), Thomas Aspinwall (0), and Mitchell Stanley (0) in consecutive deliveries.

With this feat, he became the first player to take a hat-trick for Nottinghamshire in T20 cricket. It is worth noting that Farhan, who is younger brother to England spinner Rehan Ahmed, hogged limelight in 2024 when he became the youngest first-class cricketer for the Notts. Furthermore, on his debut, he picked seven wickets for 140 runs and later went on to become the youngest player in England’s first-class cricket to take 10 wickets in a match.
