Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the most successful Indian cricketers of today’s era. Fondly called ‘Thala’, Dhoni continues to enjoy a massive fan following even though it’s been close to three years since he called it quits on his international career. Despite being a private person, Captain Cool’s fans have tried their best to know about his personal life and his family.

His biopic ‘MS Dhoni: An Untold Story’ starring late actor Sushant Singh Rajput decoded the story of the Indian great. It also talked about how his family, including his sister Jayanti Gupta, contributed to the former India skipper’s success.

The 42-year-old cricketer leads Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, and his team won their fifth trophy in the recently concluded season. His sister, Jayanti Gupta, is believed to be three-four years older than MS Dhoni. Growing up, Jayanti was a pillar of support to the 2011 World Cup-winning captain and stood by him even during the times when their father Pan Singh Dhoni was reluctant to allow young him to pursue cricket.

As depicted in the biopic, there was a time when the Indian legend wanted to quit it all and begin a day job. It was Jayanti, who persuaded the youngest Dhoni sibling to pursue his passion. Jayanti lives a very normal life away from any limelight and is an independent woman.

Jayanti married Gautam Gupta, who is Dhoni’s one of the closest friends in Ranchi. She is an English teacher in a public school in Ranchi. Both Gautam and Jayanti have contributed a lot to Dhoni’s success and have played a key role in making the 2007 World Cup-winning captain what he is today.
