Although cricket in most of the countries has once again come to a halt. Where on one hand the Indian Premier League 2021 was suspended, the Pakistan Super League is also once again under the radar after being postponed earlier. Although all cricketers and coaching personnel have left India after the truncated IPL season, the Australian players are yet to reach their home country. They are currently serving mandatory 14 days quarantine.

Ricky Ponting likely to be named Australia’s coach

As per the recent update Cricket Australia is looking for a new contender to takeover as the side’s batting coach. According to ESPN Cricinfo, CA is likely to appoint a batting head coach ahead of Ashes. This news is coming after Australia suffered a series loss against India in December-January.

However, former Australia captain Ricky Ponting, Steve Waugh, Chris Rogers, Adam Voges and Jeff Vaughan are the possible names who are likely to take on this responsibility.

The 2021-22 5-match Test cricket series is going to be held at the Gabba from November 2021 to January 2022. Notably, the Ashes is played every two years between Australia and England.
