The American-England pair of Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury etched history as they became the first men’s doubles pair to win the US Open Men’s Doubles title three times in a row, along with partner Joe Salisbury in an Open Era (since 1968). Ram and Salisbury took down the World No. 6 Indian-Australian duo of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, to register hat-trick of US Open titles.

 

The 39-year-old American, who has his roots from India has since his win, doing rounds on social media. The Indian-American, who first claimed his Grand Slam title in 2019 Australian Open at the age of 34 in mixed doubles, now has six Grand Slams with two in mixed doubles and four in men’s doubles.

 

Talking about Ram’s background, the 39-year-old was born to Dr. Raghav and Sushma Ram. He grew up in Carmel, Indiana and started playing tennis at the local Carmel Racquet Club. While the court where he grew up playing was named after him in 2021 but the professional player renamed after his parents as tribute.
