The world has been thrown into a frenzy as Google has released the top search results of 2023. For sports fans, the focus was on the list of the most searched people which surprisingly didn't include legends like Portuguese and Al Nassr's Cristiano Ronaldo; Lionel Messi of Argentina and Inter Miami, and Indian batting great Virat Kohli.

Shockingly, the most searched sports personality was American football safety for the Buffalo Bills, Damar Hamlin, who topped Google's most searched people list. Hamlin had an unfortunate rise to fame as he suffered a cardiac arrest after making a tackle in a Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals on January 2, 2023.

Thankfully, the University of Pittsburgh alumni completed an inspirational return to the NFL in the 2023-24 preseason opener for the Bills against the Las Vegas Raiders. Following Hamlin, French footballer Kylian Mbappe, Kansas City Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce, and former England great and co-owner of Inter Miami, David Beckham, were the other sports persons on the list.
