On Thursday, February 20, Bangladesh batter Towhid Hridoy scored his maiden ODI hundred against India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Group A clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. After Bangladesh lost three early wickets in the first powerplay stage, the right-handed batter arrived at the crease in a precarious situation, and it got worse when they were reduced to 35/5 in the ninth over, but he kept calm and batted alongside Jaker Ali.

These two batters shared a big stand of 154 runs for the sixth wicket, to bring Bangladesh out of troublesome waters, and following that, Towhid Hridoy kept his innings despite suffering from cramps in the middle. In the second last over of the team’s innings, the Bangladesh batting star got past the three-figure mark in 114 balls before falling as the last batter to Harshit Rana, and Bangladesh posted 228 runs on the board in 49.4 overs.

During his young career, which began in 2023, Towhid Hridoy scored 918 runs across both limited-over formats in the first 10 months, to become a mainstay in their Bangladesh lineup. Known for his ability to play aerial shots towards the cover area apart from being very good on the pull, he has made 65 appearances for Bangladesh in ODIs and T20Is before today, scoring 1561 runs at a very decent average combined with strike-rate.
