The Rohit Sharma squad is set to take on the Australia in the final of the World Test Championship, set to begin from June 7, 2023. The much-anticipated battle between the two greats of the cricketing world will take place at The Oval, London from June 7 to 11, with a reserved day in place on June 12. The Pat Cummins side became the first team to finish in top two as India followed after Sri Lanka’s defeat against New Zealand in the first Test of the two-match series in March 2023.

This will be the second time India will play in the final of the WTC. The world’s number 1-ranked team played in the summit clash of the WTC Cycle 2019-21 but failed to win the title. The team had lost to New Zealand by eight wickets in the match played at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Southampton. It will be exciting to see which team clinches the champion tag in the mouth-watering cricket contest.
With so many popular names gracing the big stage, one cannot rule out the probability of the match ending in a draw. So, what will happen if the WTC Final at The Oval ends in a draw? In such a case, the trophy will be shared by both the teams. Just because Australia topped the points table, they won’t get the hold of the trophy easily. Even if the match ends in a draw, the trophy will be shared by both the finalists.
In case rain plays a part in the final, there is a reserve day in place, June 12. However, the additional timing will only be considered when there is a significant loss of playing time in the first five days. The WTC Final 2023 will only be pushed to the reserve day in case 90 overs cannot be completed on any given day.
