On Tuesday, April 15, one of the key rivalries in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to take the field as Punjab Kings (PBKS) host the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh. However, the two sides share an exciting history in the cash-rich league, it would be interesting to see what is in offer tonight.
As the two skippers took the field for the toss, it was the host captain, Shreyas Iyer, who won the toss and decided to bat first. However, his decision came seeing the wicket play beautifully in the last couple of matches. “We are going to bat first. Feel the wicket has been really well for the last couple of matches, the dew comes in but the outfield doesn't skid through,” Iyer said.

When asked of his team combination, the PBKS skipper, Shreyas Iyer confirmed a couple of changes, but forget at the time of the toss. However, minutes later it was confirmed that Lockie Ferguson and Marcus Stoinis misses out, with Josh Inglis and Xavier Bartlett replacing them.
It is to be noted that on the eve of the match, PBKS bowling coach James Hopes confirmed that Ferguson is ruled out of IPL 2025 “indefinitely” due to an injury he sustained during the match against SRH. However, is is likely to be ruled out of the remainder of the season, reason behind Marcus Stoinis’ availability is unknown at the time of writing.
