In match number 41 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will host five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday, April 23. However, the match will be played as per its usual schedule, it will see a couple of changes as the Indian subcontinent mourns the horror terrorist attacks, which took place on Tuesday, April 22 in Pahalgam.
However, the whole country is left in a shock seeing 26 innocents lose their lives in the attack, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), along with the Indian Premier League (IPL) has taken some actions, as the country pays tribute to the victims.
Players and umpires don black armbands; no cheerleaders and fireworks in SRH vs MI
In wake of the attack and to be by the side of the deceased, the BCCI has decided to pay tribute in the ongoing match between Sunrisers Hyderabad versus Mumbai Indians. While the players, umpires along with the members of the support staff will be seen donning black armbands during the match, the IPL committee has also restricted the presence of cheerleaders in the match. Moreover, there will be no fireworks in the match.
Earlier in the day, the BCCI took to social media to share condolences as they wrote, “Standing in solidarity with the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. Prayers for the families who lost their loved ones in this gruesome attack �� ”.
At the toss, renowned sports presenter, Harsha Bhogle also condemned the loss of lives in the terror attack. The two captains, Hardik Pandya and Pat Cummins also expressed their views on the horror attack. “I would like to firstly pass my condolences to the victims of the terrorist attack. We as a team and a franchise condemn any such attacks,” Hardik said after winning the toss.
