For the match 58th of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Delhi Capitals (DC) made a couple of changes in their playing XIs, dropping Vipraj Nigam and Karun Nair from their playing XIs against hosts Punjab Kings (PBKS), due to their inconsistent form in all likelihood. At the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium, the DC management have decided to give a game to two youngsters Madhav Tiwari and Sameer Rizvi, trying to change their fortunes after a tough run of recent results.

Notably, Axar Patel, the captain of DC, lost the toss before announcing the changes in the playing XI, without naming the reason about them. PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer, who called the toss right, decided to bat first despite the threat of rain at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, stating that they are comfortable with putting a total on the board, and defend it later on.

A win for PBKS in this match will push their points tally to 17, giving them the top spot on the IPL 2025 standings, while putting them quite close to playoff qualification. On the other side, DC, who have 12 points to their name, desperately need a victory in this contest, to keep themselves in touch with top teams on the points table, and give themselves the best possible chance to make the playoffs.
