Defending champions in Gujarat Titans are locking horns with Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. After winning the toss and inviting the MS Dhoni-led side to bat first, a bizarre scenario came under the radar. GT skipper Hardik Pandya despite being an all-rounder in the ranks did not bowl a single over in the inning.

If it is to be  seen, Pandya hasn’t bowled an over from last three innings for GT. He has only bowled in a total of nine innings from 13 matches, excluding the ongoing Qualifier 1 so far in the tournament.

However, the reason behind Hardik not bowling is not confirmed, it is likely possible that the GT skipper is suffering from some injury. The 29-year-old pulled his back in match against Mumbai Indians. GT Assistant Coach Ashish Kapoor later confirmed the news and revealed that Pandya did not bowl due to a back spasm suffered in the match.

“We had to change our plans a little bit because, just before the start Hardik pulled his back. It was a bit stiff and he couldn't bowl. So, we had to change the whole planning of who had to open the bowling,” Kapoor was quoted saying in the post-match press conference.
