In match number 63 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) are hosting Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, May 21. However, the match is crucial for both teams as a win for MI will seal their place in the IPL 2025 playoffs, but a win for DC will keep the fight open for both.
As the two captains walked out for the toss, it was Faf du Plessis for Delhi Capitals, replacing all-rounder Axar Patel, who sits out. Speaking of the toss, the DC stand-in skipper, Faf du Plessis came out on top and elected to field first. On being questioned of Axar Patel’s absence, Faf stated, “Unfortunate for him, really sick in the last two days, down with flu, so we wish him all the best. He's been excellent for us this season, and we'll definitely miss him today.”
KL Rahul named in impact player list; Sameer Rizvi and Madhav Tiwari comes in
Seeing a forced change in the side, Madhav Tiwari replaced Axar Patel in the XI. Moreover, KL Rahul also missed from the playing XI but featured in the impact player list alongside Sediqullah Atal, Karun Nair, Tripurana Vijay, and Manvanth Kumar L, with Sameer Rizvi walking in his place.
On the other hand, MI also named a change in the XI as Mitchell Santner comes back for them in the Xi, replacing Corbin Bosch.
