In the crucial Eliminator in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the Gujarat Titans (GT) are taking on five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh on Friday, May 30. However, the match is for utmost importance as the winner will progress further whereas the campaign ends for the loser tonight.
Ahead of the match, as the two captains walked out, it was Hardik Pandya, the MI captain who returned victorious. Pandya elected to bat first as he said, “We're going to bat. Looks like a different track to yesterday. Bit of less grass. Big game, scoring runs and defending would be nice.”

On the other hand, Shubman Gill, when asked of his decision, added that he would have liked to chase. “We would've chased. If someone would've said at the start of the season that we would've qualified, we would've taken it. Boys are very excited to be able to come back here in Chandigarh, it's my home town,” he said. When questioned about his team combination, Gill confirmed of two changes with Jos Buttler returning to England due to national commitments.
“Two changes - Mendis comes in for Buttler and Washington for Arshad,” Gill said. MI also called in for three changes in their lineup with Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton and Corbin Bosch unavailable.
