In match number 45 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) are hosting the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in the afternoon clash on Sunday, April 27. However, both teams are coming into this fixture on the back of contrasting results in their respective previous matches, they will be vying to go all out seeing the battle for the top four get intense with each match.
As the two skippers walked out for the toss in match number 45, it was LSG skipper, Rishabh Pant who decided to bowl first. His decision came in order to utilise the surface at the Wankhede Stadium and thus invited the hosts to put the score first. “We are bowling first. In a day game you want to utilize the surface. We are in a good space and personally Its easier to put the team ahead, makes it easier,” he said.

On the other hand, MI skipper, Hardik Pandya openly accepted the decision of batting first in the warm afternoon of Mumbai, he also confirmed a few changes in the playing XI. Speaking after losing the toss, Pandya called for two changes in their Playing XI whicle adding, “Two changes. Karn Sharma comes in for Mitchell Santner. Corbin Bosch makes his debut as well, Puthur misses out.”
However, the exact update on the injury is not known, Santner is dealing with a slight niggle, which has prompted them to rest the Kiwi all-rounder as a precautionary measure. Moreover, this decision ensures that he has adequate time to recover and avoid aggravating the injury.
