Punjab Kings were handed a huge blow before the start of their IPL 2022 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The team's regular captain Mayank Agarwal was not available for selection and it was Shikhar Dhawan who was entrusted with the leadership responsibilities for this game.
When Dhawan walked out for the toss and he was asked if Mayank was okay, the left-handed opener confirmed that the regular captain of the franchise had sustained a toe injury on the eve of the match. However, Dhawan stated that he is expected to be fine before the next match.
In Mayank's absence, Punjab have roped in Prabhsimran Singh for match number 28 of the season being played at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad have won the toss and invited Punjab to bat first.
