The white-ball series, involving fiveT20I and three ODIs is all set to come to a close on Wednesday, February 12 as India hosts England in the third ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Although, Rohit Sharma-led Team India have already clinched the three-match ODI series after winning back-to-back matches in Nagpur and Cuttack respectively, it all comes down to the third ODI as India eye a clean sweep.

Prior to the play, the two skipper, Rohit Sharma and Jos Buttler took the field for toss which saw the English skipper come out on top for the third straight time in the series. After winning the toss, Buttler opted to field first, inviting India to get runs on the board. Both Rohit Sharma and Jos Buttler also confirmed their team combinations for the final match.

Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami rested; Varun Chakravarthy unavailable due to “sore calf”

When asked about the team combination, English skipper Jos Buttler confirmed that Tom Banton comes in place of Jamie Overton. Notably, Tom Banton was called upon as cover after Jacob Bethell sustained an injury. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma confirmed of making three changes in their lineup. While Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami were rested for the final ODI, Rohit Sharma confirmed that Varun Chakravarthy was unavailable for selection.

“We’ve made a few changes today—Jadeja and Shami are rested, while Varun is out with a sore calf. Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, and Arshdeep Singh come into the XI,” Rohit Sharma said at toss. BCCI also took to X to share an update on the spin sensation as they wrote, “UPDATE: Varun Chakaravarthy was unavailable for selection for the 3rd ODI due to a sore right calf.”
