Shubman Gill, the Indian T20I vice-captain, isn’t playing in the second T20I of the three-match series against Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele on Sunday, July 28. During the toss time, Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of India, announced that Shubman Gill missed out due to a neck spasm while naming Sanju Samson as his replacement.

Notably, with a lot of rain around in Pallekele, Suryakumar Yadav decided that India would be bowling first in the second T20I versus Sri Lanka. He also talked about how the pitch at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium played well in the second innings of the first T20I a day ago, which further persuaded him to make the aforementioned decision.

India are currently 1-0 ahead in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka after winning the first match by a margin of 43 runs. After the Indian batters put up a massive total of 213/7 on the board, the bowlers defended the runs successfully following a decent start in the run chase from Sri Lanka.
