Ahead of the IPL 2023 fixture, between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers, Indian batter Virat Kohli came up for the toss instead of the RCB captain Faf du Plessis. Kohli was named the captain and  Plessis will be the team's impact player as he can't field citing his rib injury from the last game.

While talking at the toss,  Kohli stated that Faf will be replaced by fast bowler  Vyshak Vijaykumar. He said,  "Faf potentially can't be fielding today, so he'll be playing as an impact player, switching with Vyshak. We got to do what we wanted, we would have batted first, the pitch could get slow, some scruff marks will help the bowlers going deep into the game. Taking one game at a time, focusing on our own game, make the most of crunch situations, we haven't done that so far in the tournament. No other changes for us."

Talking about the game, Royal Challengers Bangalore registered a brilliant victory on the back of their stunning bowling display. Mohammed Siraj was the star performer as he picked up four wickets and helped RCB bundle them out at the score of 150.

Reacting to this performance, Mohammed Siraj delved into how he has been improving himself in multiple disciplines of the game. He said "First ball the length was a bit short and then I sensed need to bowl full to get some swing and that was the plan (for first wicket). The lockdown was really important for me, because I used to get hit for boundaries very often before that. I worked on my plans, my fitness and my bowling and it's all paying dividends now. I always try to improve in every department of the game because I understand it is important to contribute in whichever way possible. Always rated myself as a decent fielder, misfields can happen but I take my fielding seriously."
