Mercedes marked its’ first double podium at the Spanish Grand Prix 2023 since 1-2 finish in Brazil in November. While Lewis Hamilton finished second, securing his second podium in the ongoing season. M eanwhile George Russell finished third, both combining a gap of 32 seconds from the first placed Max Verstappen.

 

Although the Mercedes-Petronas team finished at the podium, they were levied with USD 10,500 penalty after the completion of the race. The UK based team was fined for breaching Parc Ferme regulations at the seventh race of the season in Barcelona on Sunday. To elaborate more, the physiotherapists & assistant drivers number 63 and 44 were seen on the Parc Ferme at the time when they weren’t supposed to be.

 

“The Stewards received a report from the media Delegate, which was subsequently confirmed by video evidence, that the physios/drivers’ assistants of Cars 44 & 63 entered parc ferme in violation of the Post Race Interview and Podium Ceremon,” read the release from F1.

 

It is to be noted that Mercedes was also fined at the Monaco Grand Prix 2023 after Lewis Hamilton was caught speeding in the pit lane. The cars are set to be below 60km/h inside the pit lane and Hamilton was fined for exceeding it by 5.5km/h.
