The former England captain Michael Vaughan made a scathing remark on the England cricket team, talking about how they will not win the ongoing five-match Test series against India. The reasoning behind the 49-year-old’s observation was the indifferent batting performance from England in the second Test, which saw them lose the contest by 106 runs in Visakhapatnam.

At the Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium, England had a tough outing in the batting department, scoring just 253 runs in the first innings on a very good pitch for the batters. In the second innings, while pursuing a big target of 399 runs, the English batting lineup did give a better account for themselves, but still, they were bundled out for 292.

In his column for The Telegraph, Michael Vaughan spoke about the potential result of the India versus England five-match series in the wake of a below par batting performance from the visitors in the second Test. The former Ashes winning captain wrote, “England will not win the series if they bat the way they did in Visakhapatnam.”

“I actually think the batsmen need to take a leaf out of the bowlers’ book. With ball in hand, they have been quite traditional at times, aggressive at others, and they have gone up and down the gears in terms of how attacking their fields have been,” added Michael Vaughan.

The 49-year-old also talked about what worries him in regard to the England cricket team’s standing in the ongoing five-match Test series against India. He remarked, “However, I do worry that they might become a team who do all this great work only to not actually win very much. They didn’t win the Ashes when they should have done and now they have let India back into a series when they still have a load of big names, including Virat Kohli, to come back.”
