The inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League is all set to kick start on March 4, and a total of five teams will be up against each other for the prestigious title. 20 matches are scheduled to take place in a highly competitive tournament. The Women’s Premier League will follow a round-robin format with a group system and a playoff format.

According to the format, the team which finishes at the top of the points table will directly qualify for the finals, while the second and third-placed teams will clash in the Eliminator. The winner of the Eliminator will move to the final. 

The five franchises which are participating in the lucrative league are - Mumbai Indians Women, UP Warriorz, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women, Gujarat Giants Women, and Delhi Capitals Women. Royal Challengers Bangalore secured her services with a whopping bid of Rs. 3.4 crores, while Sophia Dunkley (Gujarat Giants - 3.4 crores), Jemimah Rodrigues (Delhi Capitals - 2.2 crore), and Meg Lanning (Delhi Capitals - 50 lakh) followed the list.
