The World No Tobacco Day is observed every year on May 31 to aware people of the harmful effects on health and uphold efficient policies to reduce tobacco consumption. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has urged his social media followers to "choose health over tobacco" while revealing the reason for not promoting tobacco products in his life.

Many Bollywood celebrities and sports personalities are endorsing tobacco products these days, however, Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar has ruled out such promotions due to his father's advice at the start of his international career.

On the World No Tobacco Day, Sachin Tendulkar took to X and wrote, " At the start of my international career, my father gave me a simple yet important piece of advice: never promote tobacco. I have lived by it, and so can you. Let us choose health over tobacco for a better future. "

Apart from making people aware of harmful effects of tobacco consumption  like heart disease, stroke, cancer and some respiratory illnesses , this day  informs the public about the business practices of tobacco companies, the World Health Organisation's (WHO) stand in fighting against the use of tobacco.
