Preview

The inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is into its business end with only a handful of games left in the league stage. In the 15th match of WPL 2023, Mumbai Indians Women and UP Warriorz will lock horns. While MI Women won’t be stressed much as they have already ensured qualification for the second round of the tournament, UP Warriorz have pushed themselves in a muddle after they lost to RCB by five wickets on Wednesday.

The Alyssa Healy-led team needs to win the rest of their games to head to the second round. The Warriorz have won two out of five games played so far and are seated in third place in the points table. UP need to beat MI to stay alive in the race for qualification. However, if they lose, UP will have to rely on other results. So, this makes it a must-win game for the Warriorz.

Meanwhile, Harmanpreet Kaur-led MI Women will treat the rest of the games as rehearsals for the knockout stage. They have been unstoppable so far, winning all five games played. MI will eye a sixth win on the trot when they face UP on Saturday.

Pitch Report

The pitch at DY Patil stadium is known for its batting-friendly nature. With even bounce and pace on offer, batters can hit through the line while bowlers have little margin for error.
