The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday, November 7 announced the retained and released list of players ahead of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction. However, the exact date of the auction is yet to be announced, the Gujarat Giants opted to let go of their experienced all-rounder in Sneh Rana.
Rana, who captained the side after an injury ruled out their regular skipper Beth Mooney, featured in only four games in the following edition, managing just 13 runs. The Giants also released the overseas players in Kathryn Bryce, Lauren Cheatle and Lea Tahuhu. Moreover, the side retained a total of 14 players from their WPL 2024 squad, they let go of six players which also included India batter Veda Krishnamurthy.
“Sneh Rana wasn’t guaranteed a spot in our starting XI. Ash Gardner is there and we have Priya Mishra, up and coming spinner. It’s a really harsh call. She’s great around the group and is experienced. It was a hard decision. But we felt, going forward, we have some improvements to do and some tough calls to make and that’s why we went that way," Gujarat Giants Head Coach Michael Klinger said after the revelation of retained and released players.
Here in this article, we’ll list out all relevant details around the players retained as well as released ahead of the auction.
