A disappointing season ended on a winning note for the last time Royal Challengers Bengaluru as they have defeated Mumbai Indians in the final league match of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025. With this, MI have also finished on the second position as Delhi Capitals entered their third consecutive WPL final being at the top of the table. However, Mumbai Indians will have to face Gujarat Giants in the Eliminator on March 13 to confirm their fixture in the title clash against DC on March 15. Batting first RCB posted 199/3 in their 20 overs with Smriti Mandhana playing a captain's knock of 53(37) runs. In reply, MI were restricted at 188/9 in their 20 overs.
Coming to bat first after losing the toss, RCB got a flying start as Smriti Mandhana and Sabbhineni Meghana added 41 runs for the first wicket in 3.4 overs. Meghana got out after scoring a quickfire 26(13) runs hitting four fours and one six while Mandhana scored 53 runs off 37 balls hitting six fours and three sixes. After that Ellyse Perry (49* off 38) and Richa Ghosh put up a partnership of 53 runs for the third wicket. Richa contributed with 36 runs off 22 balls with five fours and a six. After that, Georgia Wareham joined Perry at the crease as the duo added 46 runs before the end of 20 overs. Wareham scored a quickfire 31* runs off just 10 deliveries hitting five fours and a six as RCB fell short of just one runs from the 200-run mark.
Nat Sciver-Brunt scores fighting 65 runs
Chasing the winning target, Mumbai Indians kept losing wickets at regular intervals. However, Nat Sciver-Brunt put MI in the game with her fighting knock of 65 runs off 39 balls hitting nine fours and two sixes. However, she didn't get much support from the other batters as MI fell short of the target.
Mumbai Indians could only reach 188 runs losing 9 wickets in their 20 overs. For RCB, Sneh Rana took 3 wickets, Kim Garth and Ellyse Perry scalped two wickets each while Heather Graham and Georgia Wareham scalped a wicket each
