After a great start to their campaign with two consecutive wins, the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) seemed to completely losing their momentum in the ongoing WPL 2025 as they suffered their third straight defeat of the season against Gujarat Giants (GG) by six wickets at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. With this, GG also registered their second win of the season in five matches so far. 

Batting first, RCB were restricted to 125/7 in their 20 overs with Tanuja Kanwar and Deandra Dottin shining with the ball. In reply, skipper Ashleigh Gardner came up with a match-winning fifty as GG chased the winning target in 16.3 overs losing four wickets. 

Top-order failure cost RCB match against GG

Coming to bat first, RCB started a poor start as they lost three wickets for just 25 runs in 5.2 overs. After that, Raghvi Bist and Kanika Ahuja added 48 runs for the fourth wicket. Bist got out after scoring 22(19) while Ahuja top scored with 33(28) runs. Apart from that, Georgia Wareham remained unbeaten with a steady 20*(21) runs. For GG, Deandra Dottin and Tanuja Kanwar took two wickets each while skipper Ashleigh Gardner and Kashvee Gautam scalped a wicket each. 

Chasing the winning target, Gujarat Giants also suffered early breakthroughs as they lost three wickets for 66 runs inside 10 overs. After that, skipper Ashleigh Gardner took charge of the innings and put up a partnership of 51 runs along with Phoebe Litchfield as GG went closer to the target. Gardner scored 58 off 31 balls while Litchfield remained unbeaten on 30* off 21 balls as GG chased the target with  21 balls remaining. For RCB, Renuka Singh and Georgia Wareham scalped two wickets.
