The England versus India five-match Test series stands 2-1 in favour of the hosts, after the Ben Stokes-led Three Lions regained their momentum and performed under pressure to win the third Test by 22 runs at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. With the series leveled 1-1 after India held the Edgbaston Test by 336 runs, the match was tight until the last hour with India needing some 30 odd runs and England needing two wickets.

However, with Ravindra Jadeja standing as the lone warrior, everything was possible but wickets kept falling at the other end, leading to a sudden collapse and the visitors eventually falling short by 22 runs. During the course of the five days, there was pulsating action, drama, banter and what not, one of which also resulted in Mohammed Siraj being penalised for his furious send-off to Ben Duckett.

But recently, England have been handed a massive setback as they have now been docked two World Test Championships (WTC) points for maintaining slow over-rate. As a result, this has also handed them a drop in place in the WTC 2025-27 cycle after they had claimed the second spot after their Lord’s win. They now sit at third place with 22 points and a point percentage of 61.11 after two wins and one loss.

points table On the other hand, they have been displaced by Sri Lanka in the second place, who have had a win and a draw result in the two Test matches they have played and have 16 points to their name. India meanwhile, continue to reel at fourth place with 12 points and point percentage of 33.33 after a solitary win in three Test matches.
