Former Indian batter Virender Sehwag took a jibe at the England cricket team reacting to the reports of the Three Lions bringing their chef for the tour to India. The development surfaced on January 5 confirming that a chef will accompany the English team to avoid players falling ill during the five-match series starting on January 25.

Reacting to this news, Sehwag posted on X (formerly Twitter) how this requirement has appeared after the retirement of English batting great Alistair Cook. The former Indian opener joked about how the English players don't this treatment in the Indian Premier League. Virender Sehwag posted, " Yeh zaroorat Cook ke jaane ke baad padhi.  IPL mein nahi padegi."

Coming back to the five-match tour, England will take Manchester United chef Omar Meziane, who previously worked with the team to Pakistan in December 2022. The report by the Telegraph stated,  “England will take their own chef on tour to India later this month to try and avoid players falling ill during the seven-week trip. The chef will join the squad in Hyderabad before the first Test on January 25 in an attempt to keep on top of the players’ nutrition.”

“England insist it has nothing to do with not trusting hotels to provide clean facilities and is instead about ensuring players, especially those who refuse to eat spicy food, are eating nutritious meals rather than filling up on energy bars and pizzas,” reported the publication.
