Argentina 2022 World Cup winner Lionel Messi has decided to move to Inter Miami from the French champions Paris Saint Germain in the latest transfer window. However, before his exit from the French team, the seven-time Ballon D’or winner reportedly shared a word of wisdom with Kylian Mbappe and said that the 24-year-old PSG star deserves a ‘winning project’.
As per reports by the Spanish outlet Defensa Central, the 35-year-old football great told PSG star, “I’d rather you go to Barca but, if you want to go to Madrid, do it. You deserve a real project, a winning project.”
Notably, the French Club has won five Ligue 1 titles and three French Cups. Messi’s switch from Europe to North America nation is sure to be a big moment for the footballing fraternity of the United States of America, which is set to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup along with Canada and Mexico.
The relationship between Messi and the PSG ultras deteriorated as the team ended up crashing out of the continental tournaments. The Argentina great decided to not extend his tenure with the Parisian club and opted to move somewhere else. There were rumours that Messi could return to his former club Barcelona, but Messi opted for another option as the sour taste of unceremonious exit from Spain due to the club's financial situation.
