Abhishek Sharma, who is serving Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, grabbed a lot of eyeballs after receiving a maiden central contract from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in its 2024-25 annual player retainership. The destructive opener’s recent performances for Team India in T20Is helped him break into the list of central contracts. In IPL 2025, he struggled to be among the runs in initial matches but the southpaw made a comeback and shunned his critics with a brilliant 141 off 55 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Hyderabad.

With Abhishek evolving in cricketing circles, his mentor Yuvraj Singh’s father Yograj Singh has disclosed how the World Cup 2011 champion disciplined the young opener and made him a potent force in the sport. Yograj said his son Yuvraj restricted Abhishek’s nightlife and also stopped the left-handed batter from meeting his girlfriend.

"Late night parties... girlfriend. What happened then? Yuvraj said, ‘Lock him. ’ He came under Yuvraj Singh's wings as his father couldn't handle him. Yuvi shouted, 'Where are you?'. I heard him yell. 'It's 9 pm, go to bed. Do you understand me? I am coming,” said Yograj in a chat with News18.

SRH will look to beat MI in the IPL 2025 revenge week

In the revenge week of IPL 2025, SRH will host Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on April 23. Sunrisers haven’t played as per reputation in this season. They are placed in the ninth spot on the points tally with only two wins and five losses.

The Orange Army lost their previous game against MI by four wickets at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on April 17. This time, Hyderabad will be the hosts and they will be expected to play quality cricket against the Hardik Pandya-led team. MI have made a comeback in the tournament after winning three consecutive games. In their last encounter, they crushed their arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by nine wickets in Mumbai.
