Zack Martin, the Dallas Cowboys captain, is planning to not show up at the upcoming training camp, due to unhappiness with the current structure of his contract, as per the reports. It was mentioned that he is not liking the lack of interest from the Cowboys in restructuring his deal for the 2023 league season. Also, the 32-year-old NFL star believes that he is woefully underpaid in comparison to the market.

The six-time All-Pro guard is set to earn $11 million for the upcoming season, which is about $7 million less than his fellow counterparts. At an average of $20 million, Chris Lindstrom of the Atlanta Falcons and Quenton Nelson of the Indianapolis Colts are on top of the highest-paid guards in the NFL.

On July 19, Wednesday, Adam Schefter, the senior reporter of ESPN, took to his official Twitter account, to send out an update about Zack Martin’s contract situation. His tweet read, “Cowboys’ six-time All-Pro guard and team captain Zack Martin is considering not reporting to training camp due to his unhappiness with his contract and the team’s lack of interest in restructuring it, per sources. Martin believes he is “woefully underpaid relative to the market.” Martin is scheduled to make about $7 million less this season than the NFL’s top-paid guards.”

Sometime later, he also talked about how Dallas Cowboys are interested in extending the contracts of certain players in the franchise. He was quoted as saying on Twitter, “Cowboys have been open to working on contract extensions for CeeDee Lamb, Trevon Diggs, and Terence Steele. Jerry Jones has discussed restructuring Dak Prescott’s contract. And now Dallas has one more contractual issue prior to camp. Zack Martin is unhappy with his deal.”
