Another hectic schedule awaits the Indian team in the Glasgow venue on July 30 as the struggle for medals goes on in a big way on Thursday. With their fine performance at the Commonwealth Games, India will seek to make further progress and will have Olympic and World champion Neeraj Chopra in action in the men's javelin throw qualifier event. Apart from Chopra, many Indian athletes will participate in athletics, weightlifting, track cycling and lawn bowls, thereby making it one of the busiest schedules for India at the Games.
On the other hand, Tejaswin Shankar is back in the fray for yet another tough day in the men's decathlon with many events on his schedule. In weightlifting events, India's chances for earning medals will be through the efforts of Martina Devi Maibam and Lovepreet Singh, while Samardeep Singh Gill and Tajinderpal Singh Toor will participate in the men's shot put final. Further, Parul Choudhary, Seema Kaliramna and Nidhi Rani will participate in athletics events in an attempt to earn a podium finish for India.

India Eye Strong Performances on Day 8
The 8th day of the 2026 Commonwealth Games sees India looking to increase its current medal haul of 15 medals comprising 3 gold, 9 silver, and 3 bronze medals. Key competitions today include javelin qualifying rounds for the superstars Neeraj Chopra, shot put final for Tajinderpal Singh Toor, and 5000m run for Parul Chaudhary. Hefty weightlifters Martina Devi (86+ kg) and Lovepreet Singh (110+ kg) will also make it to the podium.
India has just had its own historic 1-2 finish with para-sprinters Dilip Gavit and Mohammed Basil and is now riding on tremendous sporting momentum. Having won seven medals in weightlifting and securing ten future medals from boxers, the key players are statistically set to improve India’s global position of 8th place in tonight’s decisive finals.
