World Number 1 Jannik Sinner may not have produced his most dazzling tennis in the face of Jan Struff’s dangerous game, but he still proved too strong for the 36-year-old German and sealed a 7-5, 7-6(4), 6-3 victory in the quarter final at Court No 1. Jannik Sinner is into his third semi-final at the Wimbledon, and will face either seven-time champion Novak Djokovic or Felix Auger Alissame in the semi-final. Sinner has improved his record at Wimbledon to a terrific 25 wins and 4 losses. He will be the favourite to defend his title this year given his recent form.

Jan Struff who became the oldest first-time men's major quarter-finalist in the Open Era lost the first set 7-5. He did better in the second set where he took Sinner to a tie-breaker. Unfortunately Struff could not pull things in the tie-breaker and lost the second set 7-6. Jannik Sinner was at his supreme best in the third set as he clinched a 6-3 victory to book his place in the semi-finals. Sinner dominated most of the match which was finished in two-hours and 35-minutes.

After his win, Sinner was asked “It’s a hot one today. not quite French open temperatures. How much of a relief was it for you to get through a match like this in heat?” Jannik Sinner replied by saying, “Yeah, thanks for reminding me. We worked a lot especially after Paris trying to understand what went wrong there. We prepared ourselves in the best possible way. And in any case it was a huge test today. I felt really really comfortable on the physical side today. A good step forward.”

Coco Gauff through to first Wimbledon Semi-Final after beating Jessica Pegula

In the women’s singles, Coco Gauff made a sensational comeback after losing the first set as she rallied past Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to reach her first ever Wimbledon Semi-Final. After losing her opening set, she made excellent serves in the next few sets as she won the second and third set in a clinical fashion.

With this victory, the 22-year-old Coco Gauff became the youngest player to reach the semifinals at all four Grand Slams since Maria Sharapova who completed this feat in 2007. When asked about her reaction to making her first Wimbledon final, Coco Gauff said, "Honestly, pretty insane. Considering I hadn't won a match on grass in 2 years before this tournament. I'm definitely just really happy with how I played today. Jess is an incredible opponent and person, playing against her is never easy. I'm just happy to get through this one today."

This marks a clinical result for the 2 time Grand slam champion as before this she had never made it past round 4 in her previous six appearances at the Wimbledon. Coco Gauff will face the winner of Karolina Muchova and Naomi Osaka in the semi-final of the Wimbledon 2026.
