Alexander Zverev cruises through to Round 3 after win over Valentin Royer

Alexander Zverev continued his brilliant form as he beat Valentin Royer 6-1, 6-3, 7-6(3) in two hours and four minutes on Court No 1. This was his 50th tour-level win on grass. The 29-year-old German fired 14 aces and converted five of eight break points he earned in an accomplished all-around performance.

Speaking about his performance in the on court interview, Zverev said, “For two and a half sets I played an almost perfect match,” Zverev, whose only blemish came when he let slip a 4-2 lead in the third set, said in his on-court interview. “Then I lost a bit of focus and he used it very well. He made it very interesting in the end, but definitely happy to be through in straight sets and not have to play another set, even though I love to play here,” he added.

After the win, Zverev will now be up against Giron in the third round of the Wimbledon. Marcus Giron beat Quentin Halys in four sets and he will be the next challenge for Zverev. Interestingly the H2H match between Zverev and Giron has been heavily in favour of the German with Zverev winning all the four matches played between these two players.
