World No. 2 ranked tennis star, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz early on Saturday, September 6, demonstrated his best to overcome 24-time Grand Slam champion and legend Novak Djokovic. The Spaniard defeated the World No. 7 in three straight sets 6-4, 7-6(4), 6-2 at the US Open 2025 semi-finals to secure a berth in the summit clash of the tennis major.
Coming into the semi-final after defeating Czech international Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 at the Flushing Meadows, the 22-year-old went past the Djokovic challenge to setup his third Grand Slam final appearance in 2025. The Serb, who was eyeing his record-breaking 25th Grand Slam, looked exhausted in a battle which lasted for two hours and 23 minutes.

The 38-year-old, who has reached all four Grand Slams semi-finals this season, has now been handed three defeats against No. 2 Alcaraz or No. 1 Jannik Sinner. While the hopes of Djokovic’s 25th Grand Slam title continues to wait, Alcaraz will be seen competing against the top-ranked Jannik Sinner on Sunday at the Arthur Ashe Stadium at the Flushing Meadows in the New York City.
While he remains undefeated in sets as he pursues his sixth major title and second at the Flushing Meadows. The Spaniard’s recent record against Sinner includes a victory at the French Open in June and a loss at Wimbledon 2025 in July. However, since April, Alcaraz has maintained an impressive 44-2 record, reaching the finals in his last eight tour-level events.
