With only a few hours left to the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, Punjab Kings owner Preity Zinta has informed that she won't be available for the mega event. Zinta shared the news through an Instagram post on Friday. She also asked PBKS fans to chip in with suggestions for the event. The Bollywood actress said that she will be staying in California to look after her newborn.

"This year I’m going to miss the IPL Auction as I cannot leave my little ones and travel to India. The last couple of days have been hectic discussing the auction and all things cricket with our team. I wanted to reach out to our fans and ask them if they have any player suggestions or recommendations for our new team. I would love to know who you wanna see in the red jersey this year. Bring it on folks… I’m all ears," wrote Zinta in the Instagram post.

Punjab Kings walk into mega auction with highest purse amount

Although Zinta has confirmed that she won't be available for this year's auction, it will not bother the franchise much. They are walking into the mega auction with the highest purse amount. After spending 18 crores on retention, PBKS have 72 crores left to spend on 12 and 13 February. But with only two players retained, they have 23 players to add to their squad.

They will also be looking for a captain as Mayank Agarwal is not their first choice. They have Arshdeep Singh as their second retention which means eight overseas players left to buy. This makes it a bit challenging for PBKS management as they won't be going after uncapped overseas players. So, who will they go for?

As already discussed in PBKS auction strategy, the team will be eyeing players like David Warner, Shreyas Iyer, and Quinton de Kock from the Marquee set. Mohammad Shami will also be on their radar. Apart from these three, Deepak Hooda will also attract PBKS management with his all-round abilities. Also, Hooda has played for them before, and they are well aware of his capabilities.
