On Sunday night, Kansas City Chiefs secured a decisive 30-17 victory over Detriot Lions in prime time at the GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. The reigning AFC champions, who did not have a great start as they lost their first two games for the first time in Patrick Mahomes era, bounced back in style to claim their first win of the season, courtesy four touchdowns from Mahomes and a few other moments.

While the match had its moments, what followed post-game was a heated scuffle between the two teams. It all began with Detriot Lions safety Brian Branch slapping Kansas City Chiefs wide-receiver Juju Smith-Schuster. As per the videos circulating on social media, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes approached Branch for a post-game handshake. However, Branch allegedly refused and walked past Mahomes without acknowledging him.

JuJu Smith-Schuster, who witnessed the snub, appeared visibly upset and said something to Branch. Moments later, Branch struck him in the face with an open hand, triggering a physical altercation. Eventually, players from both teams quickly involved before officials and coaching staff intervened. Smith-Schuster was later seen walking to the locker room with a bloody nose and covered it with a towel.

Later, minutes following the incident, Lions head coach Dan Campbell issued a stern warning to the safety while condemning his actions. He also apologised for the player’s action as he said, "I love Brian Branch, but what he did is inexcusable.”

"It's not going to be accepted here. It's not what we do, it's not what we're about. I apologize to Coach [Andy] Reid and the Chiefs and [Juju Smith] Schuster. That's not okay, that's not what we do here. He's not going to be okay. He knows it. Our team knows it,” Campbell further added.
