Early on Sunday, October 5, Alex Pereira stunned Magomed Ankalaev in a five-round decision to reclaim the UFC light heavyweight title at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Headlining the UFC 320 event, Pereira reclaimed the 205-pound championship via a TKO in just 80 seconds after surrendering his title to Magomed in March 2025.

The Brazilian mixed martial artist took only one minute and 20 seconds to defeat Ankalaev after he dropped the 33-year-old with a right hook. Although, Pereira dominated the fight from the very start, he reclaimed his title in just less than two minutes with, finishing with a flurry of punches and elbows. With a defeat, Ankalaev finally ended his 14-match unbeaten streak.

With a win, Pereira is now a three-time champion with two different title reigns at light heavyweight. But with the Poatan leveling the scores, he poured water on the rematch theory stating, “I think the story will be over.” Speaking after his victory, the Brazilian added, “It’s obviously out of my control. It’s up to the UFC. If they want to do it again, I’ll fight anyone. To be honest, from everything we’ve seen, I think with him losing, I don’t think he’s going to fight for the title anymore.”
