Star mixed martial artist Conor McGregor, who has been very vocal of his UFC stints, received a massive blow as he has been handed 18-month suspension. The Irishman, who is a former UFC featherweight and lightweight division champion, was handed an 18-month suspension after missing three drug tests in a span of a year.

The decision came out on Tuesday, October 7 after an official communication from the Combat Sports Anti Doping (CSDA). In the statement, the CSDA confirmed that McGregor missed three Tests, scheduled on June 13, September 19 and September 20 last year, thus breaching the “whereabout” protocol.

However, the Irishman has accepted the decision of the CSDA, which will now keep him out for 18 months. The agency dealing with McGregor also opened up and wrote, "Despite these mitigating factors, CSAD emphasizes that accurate whereabouts filings and the ability to conduct unannounced testing are essential to the success of the UFC anti-doping protocol,” while confirming McGregor fully cooperating in the matter.

The UFC fighter later took to X to share a brief message while informing of his absence from the UFC circuit. “Hey folks online, I’m out of here for a bit, see you again soon! My love, unwavering! Thank you all ❤️ �� ☘️” he captioned a post on X.

However, the offence usually serves two years of suspension, but it has been reduced to 18 months with the suspension backdating from September 2024. As a result, the Ireland international will be free to fight again by march 20 next year, leaving him possibly to fight at the UFC event scheduled for June 14 at the White House.
