In the ongoing NCAAF, Houston Cougars defeated Colorado Buffaloes 36-20 on Friday night. Conner Weigman registered his career high with a throw of 222 yards and ran for over 83 yards with two touchdowns in his side’s emphatic victory over the Colorado. During the game, the Cougars held the possession for 13 more minutes that the Colorado, in which they registered back to back scoring drives along with a touchdown in the later fourth quarter.

Apart from Weigman, who seemed to be an issue for the Colorado side, was well supported by running back Dean Connors, who ran 89 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. While the Deion Sanders’ coached side didn’t get off to their fastest start on Friday night, the coach later blasted at the team’s defense, terming it as a “hot garbage.

"Hot garbage," Sanders told an ESPN reporter. "We can't stop them on first down. First down, that's when they're making their plays,” he added at the post-match presser. Sanders comments came followed by Houston’s three consecutive drives on the start.

Ryan Staub gets support from Shedeur Sanders after poor run in Colorado’s 20-36 defeat vs Houston

After getting a nod following his 7 of 10 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns in 31-7 win for the Colorado’s against Delware, red-shirt sophomore Ryan Staub stepped up on Friday night in relief of Kaidon Salter and Julian Lewis as expected by a lot of fans prior to the game. But his performance from last night’s game, uncertainties hit back at the quarterback. Although, head coach Deion Sanders stressed the position was open, but recently, former Colorado starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders supported Staub.

In conversation with ‘Coach Primer’ Sanders, Shedeur said that he had reached out to congratulate Staub and offered encouragement. “Yes, of course, Shedeur has called Staub. Everybody who played has called and reached out to Staub because they love him,” Deion Sanders said.

The Colorado Buffaloes and coach Deion Sanders have fallen to a 1-2 record after suffering a 36-20 loss against the Houston Cougars. With the loss, the Buffaloes are also 0-1 in Big 12 conference play. After suffering their second loss, the Colorado Buffaloes will next face the Wyoming Cowboys on Saturday, September 20.
